The Mamaki (Pipturis albidus) is a thornless tree from the nettle family.  Endemic to our Islands, Mamaki was brought to our shores by early Polynesian voyagers.  Practitioners of Laʻau Lapaʻau (Hawaiian Herbology) cherished the delightful and calming Mamaki for its alleged traditional medicinal properties, including purported ability to cleanse, detoxify, reduce fatigue, uplift, and strengthen the body.  Mamaki tea is naturally caffeine free, so it is a perfect drink for any time of day.

The University of Hawai‘i’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources verified that Mamaki tea has significant levels of antioxidants and helps address depression, fatigue, insomnia, irritability, and digestive and liver functions.  The Journal of Food Science found that Mamaki tea has therapeutic value in regulating blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol, and reduces inflammation.
